Originally composed for the Ohio University Jazz Percussion Ensemble, I also created an alternate version or my latin jazz group, Los Viejos Blanquitos which was recorded on the CD, lvb: file under latin jazz. The piece combines jazz improvisation, a Cuban inspired montuno, and contrapuntal melodic lines. The title came from my daughter who was one-year old when I was struggling to find a title for the piece. Of her many unique sayings, one of my favorites came whenever she sneezed, “Ma-hachu”.
