Nakibembe is inspired by and dedicated to the “Nakibembe Embaire Group” from Uganda. The Embaire is a 21-key pentatonic xylophone that is generally performed by six players playing on both sides of the large instrument. Seth had the great fortune to study and play the Embaire with Mark Stone and Roger Braun while a student at Ohio University. Nakibembe is influenced by the compositions Ssente Ne Kola , Twalibamukwano and Mudondo - composed by the Nakibembe Embaire Group. The piece combines traditional elements of Ugandan xylophone music with contemporary American Jazz music and Minimalism.
